Arriving at the Property

Today I made my way to one of my hunting properties, fully expecting to find an overgrown area that would need plenty of cleanup before deer season. Instead, I was greeted with a great surprise.

Last Season's Mineral Site

Last season, I established a mineral site using Lucky Buck Mineral, and it is safe to say the local deer absolutely loved it.

The original mineral site was completely torn apart, with the ground heavily worked over and several holes dug by deer trying to reach every last bit of the minerals. It was one of the quickest mineral sites I have ever seen receive this much attention, and it was exciting to see how active it had been over the past year.

Refreshing the Site for 2026

To freshen up the site for the 2026 season, I applied 40 pounds of Lucky Buck Mineral along with 30 pounds of crushed Trophy Rock. I also treated several nearby stumps with Big Tine Cherry Rush to add another attractant to the area and help keep deer visiting the location throughout the summer.

Setting Up the Moultrie Feeder

One of the biggest projects of the day was setting up my new 200-pound Moultrie feeder. I will be putting it through its paces for an upcoming review here on TN WhitetailTV. I am looking forward to seeing how it performs over the coming months and sharing my thoughts before hunting season gets underway.

A Productive Day in the Rain

Despite spending most of the day working in the rain, it was a productive and rewarding trip to the woods.

Seeing the success of last year's mineral site gives me a lot of confidence heading into the 2026 season. Now it is time to let the cameras do their job and see what bucks begin showing up.

What I Learned

A productive mineral site can continue attracting deer long after it is established. The amount of disturbed soil and digging at this location showed that the deer continued returning throughout the year, making it a strong place to build around for the upcoming season.
